Sainfoin provides tannins, also known as astringent compounds. These stimulate the production of bile in the liver, which supports healthy digestion. Organic sainfoin cobs are helpful for horses prone to colic and loose stools. Furthermore, the tannins help inhibit the unwanted growth of microorganisms in the gut without harming the beneficial gut flora. This leads to improved feed utilization and greater resistance to parasites such as worms.
Furthermore, the plant is rich in proteins, which are essential for building muscles, skin, and hooves. It thus promotes regeneration after exertion and supports muscle development in sport or senior horses.
Because the entire plant is processed, the cobs contain all the beneficial nutrients for a healthy intestinal environment.
