Shop advantages

Benefits you always enjoy with our products:

Our products are from purely organic farming. This means you don't have to worry about chemical additives in the feed.

We regularly analyze the quality of our products. This way, we always know whether the feed is suitable for your horse.

We are a family business, so we always cater to the needs of our customers. With us, you won't get a run-of-the-mill experience.

To ensure the best quality for your horse, hay should be stored in a dry, well-ventilated place. Make sure the hay is also protected from contamination by small animals such as mice and birds.

Our organic herbal hay consists of up to 40 different varieties of grasses and herbs, providing a wealth of vitamins and trace elements. Ryegrass, other fast-growing grasses, and poisonous plants such as autumn crocus are not included in our hay.

The main components include:
Meadow fescue, orchard grass, meadow bluegrass, meadow foxtail, bentgrass (white and red), meadow fescue, sweet vernal grass and many more.

Our Elmengrund Premium Herbal Hay is composed of up to 40 different naturally occurring grass and herb varieties. It grows on the southern edge of the Black Forest and near Lake Constance at altitudes of 700-800 meters above sea level. Thanks to the optimal location, a temperate climate, and sufficient wind, the hay is free of mold and impurities. This makes it perfectly suited to your horse's needs – especially ideal for horses with respiratory problems.

Sustainable grassland management and fertilization

We cultivate our grassland with the utmost care. For several years, we have been working according to the PLOCHER® concept, which strengthens the soil independently of chemical fertilizers and pesticides.

Furthermore, we fertilize our fields with liquid manure, which is processed in our biogas plant, where a large portion of the methane is extracted and used for energy production. The conversion into a high-quality compost product begins during storage. As a result, our liquid manure is almost odorless and does not harm the soil or groundwater; instead, it helps stimulate soil life and provide essential nutrients.

Gentle harvesting

Before harvesting begins, we use drones to check the fields to ensure that no wild animals are hiding in the tall grass. Together with other farmers, we founded the organization "Aktion Rehkitzrettung Immendingen eV" (Immendingen Fawn Rescue Association).

The grass is harvested at a cutting height of approximately 10-12 cm using high-cut skids and reduced mowing speed. This minimizes the amount of soil and sand kicked up during mowing, ensuring clean cuttings. The harvested material can then lie loosely and airily on the appropriately high turf to dry.

Optimal drying and storage

The hay is now partially dried in the field and then raked into mowers. The advantage of these machines is that they don't pick up dirt and carefully gather the harvested material. This not only ensures clean quality but also prevents the loss of crumbling material that occurs with prolonged ground drying, especially with frequent turning and raking. Furthermore, the hay is baled while still damp. This retains lighter stem fragments that would otherwise fly off during drying and prevents the stems from breaking during baling. Thanks to our drying facilities, we can then dry the hay to an optimal residual moisture content of 10%, regardless of the weather, thereby preventing fermentation and the formation of harmful microorganisms.

  • Approximately 1.3 – 1.5 kg of fresh mass daily as a minimum amount to maintain gastrointestinal health.
  • If food is freely available, please check the actual amount consumed.
  • If the daily intake of roughage exceeds 1.5 kg per 100 kg of body weight, the energy and protein content of the amount eaten should be adjusted.

The ration depends on the calculated requirements and further ration composition, as well as on the size/weight of the horse.

We cannot give a feeding recommendation suitable for all horses here; please calculate your horse's individual needs or feel free to contact us!
